Shisa Class

The Shisa Class provides young students an introduction to Karate while teaching valuable life skills and having fun. Students learn focus, balance, teamwork, and other social skills through interactive drills and fun age-appropriate activities.

Classes are held once a week for children 4-6 years old.

Samurai Class

The Samurai Class prepares our younger students for transition into the Youth Class and school. Students learn important skills like confidence, respect, discipline, and defense.

Classes are held once a week for children 6-7 years old.

Youth Class

In the Youth Class, students learn traditional karate from Okinawa, Japan, and the importance of basic fundamentals such as stances, blocks, punches, and kicks. They also learn valuable life skills like confidence, respect, discipline, defense, and fitness.

Classes are for children 7-12 years old.

 

Basic Membership: one class per week.

Traditional Membership: two classes per week.

Advanced Membership: unlimited classes.

Teen/Adult Class

Students learn basic to advance fundamentals of Shorinryu Karate. They learn valuable leadership and life skills along with self-defense, bunkai, and practical applications.

Classes are for students 13 years old and older.
 

Basic Membership: one class per week.

Traditional Membership: two classes per week.

Advanced Membership: unlimited classes.

Adaptive Program

An introduction to karate for special populations with wheelchair/ambulatory disabilities, sensory impaired, and learning disabilities. This program teaches students strength, stamina, focus, balance, coordination, and self-confidence.

Weapons Class

Students learn traditional Ryukyu Kobudo (weapons) from Okinawa through weapon kihons and kata. We teach Okinawan Bo, Eku, Sai, Nunchuku, Tekko, Tonfa, and Kama.

Classes are held once a week for experienced students.

Team GOKarate

Goldsboro Okinawa Karatedo's competition team (Team GOKarate) competes in traditional Karate events and the AAU National Karate Program. Members of Team GOKarate participate in team training that works on speed, endurance, timing, distance, and dynamics. They also get to travel and build new friendships, all while being Karate ambassadors.
